Obviously, you can do your own research, but my understanding is that kids slumped over in car seats have 20% restricted oxygen flow since their chests are compressed in that position. If SIDS or other health risks worry you, I would not opt for this. In addition, I know someone personally who let their kid sleep loads in the car seat & his neck grew crooked from being slumped all the time & they have had to do a lot of therapy to try to correct it. I am sure you can be more creative then that. Use some of that frozen milk and get some sleep! It makes such a difference! I was lucky with this baby for a while--she shocked me by sleeping mostly through the night starting at about 2 months. But that honeymoon seems to have passed and she's waking up a lot and wanting to be in my bed -or nursing- all night long. I think it's b/c she's teething. My son was a voracious nurser when he was teething too. I really hope we return to the through-the-night sleeping soon. For me, breastfeeding is about soooo much more than just providing food/health for my baby. The closeness it engenders cannot be replaced by anything. When you are breastfeeding your baby you are giving her your warmth, your eye contact, your intimacy & a sense of security that cannot be communicated by stuffing a bottle in her mouth & sitting back to do your own thing. And frankly, it's as convenient as it is INconvenient (maybe learn to nurse in the Ergo & keep walking?).

In any case, I find it amusing how widely opinions/feelings can vary where breastfeeding is concerned...I applaud you for continuing, especially if it is so irksome to you! (although I would surely rather you not feel so burdened by it...)Lainey Wrighthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16360466838182043484noreply@blogger.com
